Thema: Fans expectations

2024-04-10 20:52:58
No, the rest of it makes sense as fan base influence goes.
However, fan base has ZERO to do with a given team's quality in a moment of time, because it's so slow to move.
A rebuilding team with 3500 fans after many seasons of ML domination (Dinamo T) shouldn't magically hemorrhage fans due to rebuilding- never mind being 'favored' over my team and its 1675 fans. This works to my advantage as a team, but it is incredibly stupid nonetheless.

What would make a lot more sense in determining fan base expectations for a given match is a variable already calculated in league statistics - starting XI cumulative value. This would NOT have changed the assessment from last Sunday, but next season it absolutely would.

for sure..

what gets me is my fans say im lucky to get any autograph of the other players.. and you beat those teams, and your fans leave.

Once my fans start believing i should win.. then they are really going to start leaving... Now i'm at even match expectations.. so i'm told even at 4 weeks in as a new manager i have to win at least 12-0 in every game not to lose supporters.. and my team under last seasons management lost every game!!!! we were so bad at week 1 we weren't even invited to the US cup.. but beat the teams that were... and game one beat the popcorn boys who beat us twice last season.. 6-0 but with supporters capped at 200.. it looks like none of that gameplay is accessible to new managers. Oh well.. maybe next season :)

I really don't understand what is happening in some of these cases, including yours. There's no logical reason your supporters shouldn't be both madly in love / rank 7 and you're gaining fans. Last year I joined the game late in the season and I chose to sandbag a season while I was getting my trainee program organized. I left B league with around 500 fans. It slowed down late the season I promoted, but that made sense, I was too far over the mean.

That was before this new change.

Keep us updated on this as the weeks go on, I'm really curious now.

I’m wondering did you join after season starter or before? I’m thinking it’s taken the expectations of the older side you replaced and applied it to your own perhaps? Hence why you don’t have MIL supporters and consequently you’re not gaining fans as your supporter mood is sitting at 4/7?

Hope that isn’t the case but it does seem unreasonable to be losing fans from the get go. I truly don’t like the new way supporter mood works given they’ve based it off their new seasonal expectations so much. I think it’s wrong. The old method had its flaws if for example you had a lot of bots but at least early on you’d be gaining fans.

Problem with using first xi value is you can fudge it work in your favour whenever you wanted to. Oh I have an opponent that’s better than me anyway even though I’m sort of close let’s just tank the game with trainees to change the expectations. That’s not really realistic either. Not saying fan size is perfect by any means (doesn’t handle big changes in strength quick enough and doesn’t handle things like bots) but the idea is because fans are a slow progress thing and they tend to centralise to roughly align with performance then it’s a fair enough assumption someone with more fans should be stronger then someone with less.

However changing mood to now be reflective of past seasonal expectations and slower to move and being fixed at a certain point without changing anything else like fan club updates on the Monday makes the new system just plain broken.

This I don’t think had anything to attack farming teams and everything to do with taking another chunk out of peoples money to deal with their inflation problem. That’s the likely truth behind it as by screwing over fan moods it leads directly to less fans and therefore less sponsorship/gate receipts etc. It’s actually working against the goal of their sole objective was to hurt farming teams as they’re not impacted by it.It’s everyone else who suffers.

I'm not losing fans, sorry for any misunderstanding. I'm gaining 25-35 fans a week, every week, without fail. My fans have been 7/7 most of my existence in this game. I'm just such a young franchise that's advanced quickly, so fan expectations are always low for me. I think they got mad at me once for losing in the first round of the Cup last season. They went down to 5. :)

I think the user Blue is the new team in one of our lowest leagues who is winning every game and losing fans. When I was in B league this change wasn't active.
You're right though - I think the idea was pretty good but because they don't really have a way of testing these things (other than bug testing)....we often get unintended consequences.
I just think it's ludicrous to penalize a successful team who wants to do a complete rebuild. Fans aren't going to ditch a franchise who has been successful for 'years' in game time just because they are poor for a season or two.

As far as fudging starting XI, who's really going to do that, consistently? Sure, teams will rotate youth in - I do this as well...it's a necessity for optimal training. Only problem with value, I suppose, is how disproportionately valuable goalkeepers are.

Sorry yeah the losing fans was in relation to blue but it’s also happening in other places too.

I think you’d be surprised. People are already farming because it’s profitable to do so. People are playing corner tactics as well to get around injuries etc. Wouldn’t surprise me if to get around a fan mood hit people wouldn’t do such a thing if starting xi value was the factor. The difference between MIL and believe in club or lower is quite a bit over a long period of time. I’d consider it under this current system with seasonal expectations. I’ve already considered buying up just before end of season and reselling early in the next season to recoup my balance whilst keeping my seasonal expectations as low as possible (and I’m sure others have too).

Why exactly would the devs want to punish farming exactly anyway? What exactly are the options for new teams otherwise?
I think it was meant to punish the big clubs that have a lot of money on the side and thus help smaller clubs, something it doesn't really do atm. As a new team my fanclub probably will barely move this season as well (fanmood 4/7, got a total of +5 this season for the fanclub until now), but I'm in a botleague, so this has always been a bit of a struggle. But yea, the olden days, when new clubs saw their fans love them with +20 a week was certainly a more pleasing start into the game than facing instant stagnation :D

The problem for the devs is that lots of older, rich teams neglect the sportive side and solely focus on farming. It leaves out a big portion of trainees for newer teams to train. But the thing is that most managers just like to enjoy the green thursdays too much. So the most fun part of the game became the training, not the results of the matches...
2024-04-11 13:57:59
Sadly it backfired too much if new users are the ones being the most damaged by the changes. I really think rolling back this change is for the best as it ended up being so much worse for new users, while barely addressing the issue at all (if not worsening it, according to people who stopped competing this season...).

I suspect it’s anyone who can’t exceed expectations, so even winning the league if that was expected will see you lose fans if you have one of the highest fan bases in the league.

Everyone will be impacted but some more than others. I expect fan sizes globally will plummet over time.

So even if they tweaked it to make winning the league as exceeding expectations no matter what the expectation was may at least cancel that scenario out. Still a terrible design and implementation but they won’t care, just like they haven’t anything else they’ve stuffed around with or are going to stuff around with. They just double down on it.

This is probably not a new idea but I think friendly matches should not effect supporter mood
2024-04-13 12:37:54
It should. Otherwise it’s zero challenge.

Off course i assume we just play friendlies for training. But I dream that training should not depend of match / minutes played….
2024-04-13 16:23:50
okay, so some older teams enjoy having good green thursdays where their players pop a lot or just having a big bank account. I still don't understand what harm this does to the game itself or other teams. The managers that like to win have an easier way of reaching this goal as well if others don't play for results as much. It's a win-win.
If this is what those managers want, why would you want to force them to play any other way that they don't enjoy, because they don't care about winning anymore?
Wouldn't taking away the one thing they obviously enjoy in sokker also make those managers leave?
2024-04-13 16:56:28
These are idiotic changes.

In the case of my club, it is about 10 million zł less in the club budget.

Even more clubs will ignore the results and turn to trading young players.
2024-04-13 23:49:06
devs are strong to get the opposite result to their expectations.
