Thema: Fans expectations

2024-04-08 17:16:58
hi islander,

actually the cycle was very good.

1. expectations are according to the fan size
2. after the match, the mood is updated. also the ranking is updated according to the formula based on ranking
3. new mood will impact the weekly change on your fan size

repeat

I dont know how is it now according to the updates, but this system allowed you to climb very fast on fan size.
For example, you are a team that just reached first division. You start winning everything there, reaching even 1st place in national rank. For your fanbase it means it will increase as crazy, even if you lose some against a bigger fansize team, your team could lose ranking points but wont lose mood/fans, of course depends on the specifica result calculation
2024-04-08 17:37:22
Fan base size can and SHOULD increase in size regardless of both results and supporter estimation.

Why?

Because every team in a given league should regress/progress towards the mean. That means, even if I struggled last season in ML - I am so far behind all of the other teams that I SHOULD gain fans, even with a losing season. If a team is over the league mean, and has a subpar season - they should regress more quickly. If a team like mine is predicted to "struggle to get points" and finishes fifth, I should get more fans proportionally speaking.

I don't see the actual logic of linking fan base size to projected results. It has literally no bearing on the results on the field. Whereas team value matters. No matter how good my tactic is against a team twice as valuable as mine, I'm not winning (see: my match against Atlantic last week).

I think that mood "names" are now missleading. It has nothing to do with "mood". They should remove that names, leave just numbers and call it "reputation".
2024-04-08 21:00:19
Nah, it should just be "How much we want you to spend your money" ;o)

They should have kept economic penalties separate from fan mood, which used to be a fun aspect of the game. Now not so much.
2024-04-08 21:13:57
I repeat i have only one defeat and fans mood droped two levels.I dont give a shit about names for fan moods. My teams hunting all goals
2024-04-08 21:14:17
How would they do that? Fan mood was always about economy - tickets for home match, sponsors income, end of season fan club membership etc.
2024-04-08 21:48:09
Of course. And it was fine the way it was, the things it influenced and all. It might have been poor wording from my side, but when I wrote "economic penalties", I meant the new penalties clearly brought upon mainly those with a little too much on the bank account. I actually don't care that much that they want to restrict managers' fortunes - but I'm not fond of using fan mood as a tool to accomplish this specific task.

Before, fan mood was a fun, fluctuating thing to check out - now I just don't care about it, as I know it will always be poor no matter what.
2024-04-08 23:13:09
Ah yes, I agree then.

Problem is, this probably won't change much if anything at all in game economics, while some people will definitely get frustrated.

Too many negative changes, most if not all of them punish instead of rewarding or motivating. I can't understand how they believe that it's a good way to go forward, with already small and frustrated base of users.
2024-04-08 23:29:01
The question is if that change has more "inminus" impact on economy vs league reform had "inplus". Of course this is not that much as everyone gained with second league game in week, but it affects also saturdays sponsorship. We can't say how it looks just like that, event if we collect data from 1-2 seasons and it will compensate that inflation problem, we need to wait additional 6-8 seasons to actually see results (I mean slowing down inflation, not taking it back where it was).

Alot of frustration comes from what people are used to. If it would work like that since ever, who would complain? Maybe sometimes like with fans match expectations which also are illogical, but who thinks about it while it is like that since ever.

Another frustration comes from mixing two things. Fans mood with that new thing, which shouldn't be named "mood".

I would call it "reputation" and took it out from mood, leaving mood as it was and giving next to it multiplier, x0,2 (total failure) x0,4 (below exp.) x0,6 (goal achieved) x0,8 (above exp.) x1 (great success)

This way everyone would see their actual fans mood like it always was, working like it always worked but next to it reputation multiplier which tells you how good/bad it affects for club finances (tickets, sponsorship) thanks to fullfilling last seasons expectations.

The problem is when the change is worse than what we used to have. They explained a lot, it's complex, but we are in week 4 right now and it still doesn't make sense to me.

I won yesterday and my fans mood raised 2 -> 4. But I lost 2 fans in my base, and I don't know why! My team is surprisingly 2nd in the league, and the expectation is to finish in top 6.

Also, I agree with 2 points in previous comments:
- if the expectations is defined by the size of fan base, it doesn't make any sense. The team valeu and marks should metter most.
- the negative impact of this recent change in finances, are unnecessary... I am playing 2nd division for my 2nd season in a row, and I earn from sponsors almost same amount than I was used to in 3rd division. Much of that because of the fans mood I suppose.

But I lost 2 fans in my base, and I don't know why

This is not just because of new system. How many fans comes/leaves on mondey depends on how big your fanclub is compared to rest teams in the league. If your fanclub is one of the biggest in the league it is very difficult to gain new fans (only having 6-7/7 mood, but not always, if you would have much bigger fanclub than any other club in your league, you wouldn't gain new fans even with mood 7/7 and winning all games - it was always like that). It is just more difficult to have high mood in new system.

My team is surprisingly 2nd in the league, and the expectation is to finish in top 6.

How high in table you are right now means probably not too much to mood (40%?) when 60% comes from last seasons expectations.

- if the expectations is defined by the size of fan base, it doesn't make any sense. The team valeu and marks should metter most.

If you are talking about match expectations - yes it is calculated based oly on fans base, nothing more.
If you mean seasons expectations - it is calculated based on many factors like money, value of players, match ratings, place in table in previous season etc

- the negative impact of this recent change in finances, are unnecessary... I am playing 2nd division for my 2nd season in a row, and I earn from sponsors almost same amount than I was used to in 3rd division. Much of that because of the fans mood I suppose.

This is also not directly related to fans expectations update. How much you earn from sponsors is calculated not only based on mood, but mainly on fans base of all clubs in league. This is why smaller countries has more difficult to "build" league fans base. The problem comes also from not enough high "difference" in sponsorship between leagues (also with sponsors bonus at the end of the season) which is not related to mood system.
But this problem is not that easy to "solve", we can't forget about avoiding making to big gap between finances of small teams and big teams. Alot of problems would solve automaticlly with users increase.

As always, you are making theories based on the assumption that they haven't fucked up. Yet every time it turns out that they indeed did fuck up, again and again, with every change they make.

look at this team

won 5/5 in league
new team, registered in March
user claims he is still losing supporters instead of gaining new ones

does that make sense? I think not, it would be impossible in old system, so something has to be fucked up.

This new system with fans mood is a piece of shit.It must be changed if you dont want to loose more users

2024-04-09 11:23:42
Where did I say they didn't fuck up with new teams?

Im just explaining what I know, without opinion and painting that some things people are seeing now are part of this game since ever.
2024-04-09 11:47:49
If the system is fucked up at easiest level to determine (new users in weak leagues) then it is probably also fucked up at different levels, since it's the same system. And judging by what people write about different levels - it doesn't really make sense, so there's probably something wrong in the assumptions on which they based the new system.

I will give you an example from my side. Results by date.

Week 1: Win in cup, loss in league = - 10 supporters
Week 2: Loss in league, win in Cup, win in league = -9 supporters.
Week 3: Draw in league, win in cup, 0:9 loss in league = -8 supporters
