very good keeper but Yashin, Zoff, Zamora, Schmeichel and Buffon are/were much better, I think Van der Saar is medium-high class keeper with Banks, Peruzzi, Zenga, Kahn, Barthez and Chilavert

oh c'mon.. every GK have had a bad reaction sometime.. 1 mistake in 15-20 game imho..
remember when schmeichel get lobbed in euro? lev yashin conceded goal's against netherland? or when buffon had a bad time in the last 1-2 season ago? ;)

imho van der sar and kahn still way above barthez, chilavert, peruzzi, or pagliuca and toldo :)

VdS...well he had great seasons in United, but most of his carreer he was underperforming.

poor barthez.. maybe he should play alongside laurent blanc more then he have had.. too bad blanc was already ages back then ;)

VdS played very good with ajax..but then had a slump when in juventus jersey although he managed his career back in his last couple season with fulham.. strangely, he always had a great game with his NT on those time..

Dosent deserve a thread in my opinion. Always a poor distributer of the baal for me, to panicked on the ball. Nigel Martyn was a better keeper. so was Dean Kiely. Reina, Howard and Hart were all better last season.

ah you just hate him cause he´s black.

definitely one of the best from last decade. made me curse many many times when some team I supported played against manu.

Chilavert was a good free kicker, but was a medium goalkeeper. Abbondanzieri, Rogerio Ceni, Dida, Marcos, this ones was better than him.

And I think VdS was one of the bests goalkeeper in last decade. Play until 40 years in a high-level.

Well, if you're a keeper and you score 10 goals each season you're a great player too...mid wich scores 10 goals are considered great players, why chilavert shouldn't be cosidered a great player too?

indeed he won many times the best keeper of the year award, you don't have to replace keeper with keeping skills

I wouldn't call Edwin the best ever but he really was brilliant keeper :) Didn't see his Juventus games but I'd say in premier league he was one of top 3 keepers this century.
And when it comes to his ability to play by foot he was definitely one of the best in that too.

V D Sar had one of his best seasons last year imo, especially for his age and how good his reactions/flexibility still were. He was the reason man u won the league.
