Football is now less a sport, and more a business.

I think these "sheiks" (and russians and...) are saving football: they are the main reason why duopoly is not present everywhere, and they may even revert it where it is. What would England be without these "newcomers"? Man Utd playing alone, sometimes weak Arsenal joining in, and even less often the even weaker Liverpool winning something. But now they have Chelsea and Man City fighting for league and CL.
Football is a profitable business, at least for some. There's no reason why business-seakers would not attempt to take that money, and they have what it takes: a lot of money to finance initial investments.

@borkos: I don't think PSG is that bad (assuming they succeed in becoming top French team quite fast), in the end all leagues are as good/prestigious as its top 2-3 teams, money is good, European titles are at hand... and that was Ronaldinho's first European step :P

imho, this ridiculous football industry thing is happen when uefa start changing the ucl competition back in late 90's. from only the champions of the country who can take a part in the competition to the top four clubs of the three major leagues in uefa coefficient. so, this second, third and fourth finisher of the league -which is a looser-, trying their best to continuing get loads of money from this major tournament despite they are not a league champions. while, the true league champions from country like chezch, scotland, poland, belgium, etc. are not granted to take part automatically thus must playing in uefa's second rate competition occasionally.

i mean, the competition name's it self is 'the champions league' - meaning, a competition for a champions- not for a second, a third or even a fourth finisher! no wonder the clubs from outside this top 5th uefa's coefficient always struggle to get a star player and finally choose to find a youngster then sell them after this player start to have a big name. where? to a clubs from the big five of uefa coefficient!!

and because lots of money circulate in this top five leagues produce by this uefa competition system, here comes the russians, the arabs, the americans and the asians bourgeois trying to make some instant profit. the result? a ridiculous transfers money and wage for players and an expensive match tickets..
