Thanks, that should help.

Unfortunately, based on that graphic I reckon I have 1 maybe 2 of my current YPs that are worth keeping only :-(

They are what I look for. You could probably easily drop a level on eac and still get some good juniors but likelihood is you will have to be very lucky.

The problem now is you don't "know" the exit skill, it is just coaches best guess. This plays havoc to figuring out whether a junior can make it to the skill required to be any good.

Hopefully other experienced managers will post their opinion.

Best way to start on the junior squad is to keep any juniors you gain with average/adequate and above. Forget the ages at this stage and just build up a team of 20/28 juniors on this bases.

2nd phase is then to see how the players grow with skills, plus helps or sokker organiser and start replacing players that are not popping every 3/4/5 weeks. Be careful though as players move around alot with skills, so let them settle down over a few weeks 1st.

3rd phase is then to be looking at ages and being selective of the players you take and the levels they are. Meaning that an adequate/average at 18 you may choose to hold off.

The key to junior school is not to worry about the matches, your junior school has 2 key aims.

1 - Introduce players to your team that you can train to play in 1st team or train to sell for profit
2 - Sell the players to make an immediate profit, but also having a large team of junior players in the sokker world that will make you "sell on" revenue

Obviously paying for the top youth coach you can afford is another key issue to help the skills advance quicker.

This is how I started my youth team and am still using this basic idea now. Yes I have won the junior prem a few times, but I am really not worried about winning youth games, just making cash through the system. If you are looking for a quick win on cash, this is not the method for you.

Just my thoughts....

Some good points. I think the fact you have won the junior Prem is a direct link of keeping all high skilled youths regardless of age. A 20y excellent isn't going to sell and is not worth the space, IMO.

I don't keep them at that age, I was writing it from starting out, not where I am upto. But again results are not important, people need to not view this like their 1st team games.
