MagicDave [del] an Alle
In trying to get out of my div I have gone for some players over 30 in the hope that the cheaper cost will out live the player. But what is the oldest a player can get and when does he age? Is it at the end of the season Or the end of the year. Some of the wages I'm paying are killing me so I think I'll ship some players at the end of the season no matter if we go up or not.

Players can live forever in theory, just they progressively decline in skills until they are useless. Typically players who reach NT standard, tend to become useless in their late 30s (some longer). They all age at the end of the season, all players share the same birthday.

Is there anyway to change the amount I'm paying them the older they get.

Are you in Suffolk as well?

As the old players skill drop their salary also goes down from season to season. Its a catch 22 Dave.

Cheers for that, .

Btw, I appreciate that for "new" teams it's all about buying young and training players up but I was wondering what age players start to lose skills (ignoring stamina of course).

Thanks.

from age 30 ..

aged 27-29 pretty much don't go up or down - so don't train anyone over 26!

That's not great advice in my opinion. If you keep training up to age 30 you can really reduce the decline.

Thanks guys

I disagree.

Maybe useful to minimise decline / cost decrease in prem quality players - but this is a newbie forum. Should a new user really be training players aged 28/29????

They should be focusing on younger trainees & improving them for financial & team strength.

That's true. I just wanted to clarify the point as a whole.

I didn't say I was intending to train them, I just wanted to know when their skills were likely to start going down :-)
