Can someone PLEASE tell me whether 550,000 is overpaying for this coach????

i would say yes as I have a couple of all unearthly coaches that cost way less than that

That coach is worth anywhere up to probably £1.5m; he's such a rare pull.

As others have lee blatantly hinted, you really are punching above your weight with him a little bit.

By buying or coach select?

Nope that's more than adequate! My advice save for a decent head coach, don't do what I did and spunk a load of money on the coach select. If you see a nice coach then pay what ever it costs I paid 700k I think for the guy below, stupid really considering i all ready spent that on the coach select button.

Just to add to the above I would rather have 3x solid coaches and the head coach above than 3x magical assistants and a much inferior head coach
