Thema: Form

Is form completely random? It seems to go up and down like a junior talent graph on all my players, no matter what.

There are things you can try:
play them in 1 game a week
play then in both games,
move them round the pitch, within reason :)
but it isn't an exact science

Sometimes no matter what you do a player's form stays in the basement - in which case I'd get shot, particulary if they're a striker.

Ththere are oppinions and oppinions :)

My Oppinion
No really.
It tends to be random, but we can influence it.

And I can tell you from my experience:
I bought a striker some time ago with tragical form.
I sold him with >magical.
How? I discovered his 'little secret', his little preferences. It was a bit difficult with this one, next example will be better, about this striker, he preffered to play 2 matches per week, additional with number 11 and a little bit higher than other striker (last 2 things are additional, first one was important)

Second example:
I bought a defender with tragical form.
I talked with his last owner, he told me that in last 2-3 seasons he played just on Sunday.
I played him in the following 2-3 weeks 2 matches per week.
Result?
in 3 updates, he gained 9 levels in form!! Maximum!
I sold him with superdivine form...

for this def, it was obvious he wanted to play 2 games per week.

So, this is my oppinion, some players have their secrets to raise the form... it won't always work, but it worths trying...

:( Confusing. So I have to fiddle with positions? What if my keeper wants to play elsewhere?
2010-03-04 21:51:45
about keeper, the 1-2 matches per week tactic should work...
2010-03-04 21:52:45
Damn... What if both want to?
2010-03-04 21:58:36
Dunno ^_^
2010-03-04 21:58:54
Damn.
2010-03-04 21:59:55
I just told you some tips...
it worked for me...

but won't work on every player...

Why do players keep dropping for even if I keep winning and supporters are happy? Whole team form has gone down 98 points since this season started. I never lost a game upto now.

form is not linked to performance or fan mood - at least not in anyway that has been identified. it remains a mystery and i have seen all sorts of theories most of which are mutually exclusive. if form stays shitty sell them on.

your tips involve changing random things that probably aren't built in to the game engine in any meaningful way at all - e.g. shirt number - and eventually saying "hey his form is going up this must be the secret"... i have tended to find that once a players form starts to rise it continues to do so. i suspect your "secrets" are more a matter of timing.

I find some players prefer playing 1 or 2 games a week tbh

It might have something to do with position as well. I have one guy who has been around tragic to hopeless for nearly two seasons. I finally played him as a winger last week, which is what his skills say is his best position, and he jumped up 4 points in form.

Could be a coincidence, probably is, but it's something to consider.

Actually I agree with you.

I have a defender who is not good enougth to play in central defence but when he does his form generally goes up (all the way to level 9 (whooo hooo) when he was covering injuries) but when I play him as a full back where I wan to play him his form tends downwards.

Yeah the guy I was talking about is a trainee, I didn't use any winger tactics in my league games until recently and didn't feel like designing one for friendlies just for him, too lazy.

It's something else to try, probably lots of things affect form.
