Thema: Need a small cash injection?

2009-02-26 14:31:09
If any newish team fancies a friendly at my place, I'm on the list. Get around 6500 fans generally.
On the list now.

If the Prem/II teams can/want to do it - I would be delighted to stand aside & let the Div IV teams rake in some much needed cash

I am the weakest link on the list - so put me last & I'll help out if needed at anytime

I could find another III team perhaps & help my bank balance, as it could do with a bit of cash for sure

I'm sure that will be fine, because i can see this really struggling. Even if this thread picks up, i doubt my scheduling will work.

Sty for instance has a home friendly for this week, after already arranging one last week even though he asked for one here!

Anyway, i've updated the initial post, if the_goat and mr_gibbage see this and are happy to send an invite to who i've put them against, then please do so.

I think at least that will be a gauge on future progress...

Too late - he's already expanded his stadium. :-(

cheers, have set up a friendly, starting to figure this out a bit...although as the other guy said, i have stupidly done up my stadium...ohwell....u live u learn

Its sad you wasted critical money on the stadium. But like you said we have to do the best from now on and minimize mistakes.

Have you read the newbie guides??

I saw you getting rid of the old players. But I recommend you stop selling the young player you have transfer listed as if you want to buy someone with equal skill it will cost you too much. He is worth keeping comparing to your other players! And once he gets training he will be much better. Also don't buy anymore players till you have read the guides and got a bit more hang of how the game works and then you can decide much better what's a bargain or a good buy!
The important thing right now for you would be to get as good coaches as much as you can afford!

Check your mail please. Lets continue talking in mail and I will share what knowledge I learnt from the experienced managers here and whatever I dont have knowledge of we can come to them.

See you on Wednesday!

Don't be to hard on yourself, as the stadium cash will come back many times over if you continue to play Sokker for the longer term.

It is important you get your finances right & avoid bankruptcy

Other than that - enjoy Sokker & build your team & stadium (cash allowing) to the biggest stadium & the very best team in the game

Have fun m8ty

Just looked at the friendly list and most of the IV sides on there are advertising for friendlies at their 3100 or so capacity stadiums. I'm more than happy to offer games at my place, mostly because I can remember those penny pinching days...

I still don't make a profit even with a home game, but at least my training regime affords me the opportunity to keep the club running.

Is it worth mailing new sides to suggest they play friendlies away? IRL you'd probably expect to benefit from home games, if only in terms of pie sales (or prawn sandwiches depending on your geographical location) more than you would from an away game, but that isn't quite the way here, necessarily.

Edit:
Just took my own advice and am mailing the IV sides to suggest they play away. So to speak.

"I'm more than happy to offer games at my place, mostly because I can remember those penny pinching days"

....................................................................................................................................

That is a fantastic & positive attitude to help new English teams within Sokker.

I also mail IV teams to play at my stadium, albeit my club is just a minnow compared to yours

I do believe this project will be successful if the more experienced Managers take up the lead & initiative invites for friendlies with Div IV teams

I have always believed it is the total responsibility of the experienced Managers to take the lead & help develop the game - rather than the newbies just to join & swell the numbers

I still believe the first 30 seconds in Sokker can make or break a new Manager - & we desperately need a positive structured newbie tutorial from the 1st second after they join the game

I maybe wrong??

To be honest, all the teams I e-mailed were online in the last couple of days, so almost by default they have passed the will they stay/won't they stay test.
It is the other teams we need to worry about in terms of growing the English game.
I pay £210k or so a week in player and coach wages, which is far more than I earn, so even if I could make a few extra k a week playing friendlies against higher ranked teams it would make little difference. Might as well share the love...
