undecided. I made a team again, so technically, yes...but will I keep playing? TBD.

So you proved it paid off to sent unpersonal automatic e-mails to ex-coaches, even if most of them might not stay...

I found this news announcement on Hattrick:

A Summer of Hattrick
Today we launch a campaign to invite old users back, but this time we also want your help! Work together with your local community to welcome them and by recruiting completely new users and get unique perks for all users in your league.

Goals have been set based on previous sign-up rates, but please take into account that spamming and fake signups will not help you.

There is an improved newbie experience, with new choices for managers that can quickly improve and customise teams. They will also compete in a new rookie tournament played over three weeks with great in-game cash prizes.

We hope this will make for a fun summer diversion as well as make Hattrick stronger in the future!

To sum it up: the more users who sign up in a country, the more benefits for all users in that particular country, with fake/inactive accounts filtered out and an improved experience for new users coming to the game.

Sounds like a legit way to go to me. Maybe Sokker (in a future far, far away :p) could steal some inspiration from this, if it turns out to be a success.

Main question is - does sokker even have a mail database / how up to date is this database (mails from 2005-2010 can be quite inactive) / can sokker legally even use them - I don't remember agreeing to marketing/contact via e-mail in any form and in 2023 it's a standard practice

Valid point. In Hattrick, there is a box called "Receive game related E-mails" which I guess I must have checked at some point. There doesn't seem to be any equivalent in Sokker, at least not a visible one.

GDPR didn't exist back in the days! XD

I think the idea is good but in the last 2-3 years I have better understood something that works against both games and I think I didn't fully understand it until I experienced it, structuring or restructuring a team doesn't make sense.

Talking to friends who also play HT or Sokker, a new user doing his homework well, how long should he wait before he can compete in the only two competitions he has access to?

At HT I have been working on a new project for about 3 real years, because little by little I was finishing my economy to stay in the first or second division, competing against projects that are formed cyclically every 3-5 years.

This season I renewed the age of my team and it bothers me just thinking that I will be 2-3 years away from any aspirations for prizes while I train my young players.

Well, this is just my opinion about my experience in this style of games in the last few years. I should add that I am also in a basketball game similar to these and the situation is the same.

This for me is the great obstacle for this style of games to grow in users.

Imagine joining game in Poland, where there are lots of teams playing for 75-80+, as well as maaaany teams with 125-200m euro in their accounts

Right?

It's the way of most games of this sort. I play a hockey game that has the same issues.

It can't get new players, because not only does it take years to even begin to compete, worse it takes that long to even really train players

At least here, you can start training players semi well within a couple weeks or so. It's hard, but possible.

My economy of scale will never match these other teams, but at least I can slowly progress

jajajjaa a little more complicated...

But speaking on the subject, do you agree or not?

Another aspect to keep in mind about this is that it can be frustrating to start without a good base or system support. With the second I mean, material to start or recover.

I don't know how this could change with new users, but in my case, to recover the team, the youth school gave me NOTHING, low levels, lousy distribution for regular youth, demotivating a bit.

It is really important to adapt the "how to play" to the new system, competition and training. Now it's full of mistakes and almost impossible to understand because it doesn't match at all with "reality"

The new season started today but no changes announced?
2023-06-19 14:48:24
Of course, I agree that it's a problem.

I even suggested years ago that they should open a new server, Sokker 2.0, where everyone would start from 0 with new teams. Together with advertising/promotion it could give the game a second life.
2023-06-19 16:32:45
Interesting... ¿Maybe I server test?

I think the idea is to simulate with time passing faster, a season or the growth of a player, from my point of view it is what this type of game needs to see a real difference in the engagement and increase the number of users.

Should be something tested.

I already talked with Raul about sending mails to ex users, problem is they havent given consent to marketing back then.
