math isnt your strong side...... if he drops, he would still drop the same just from a lower level and be even closer to a minimum level of pace for NT.... also he wont need that long as you suggest, one season pace and he should stay divine untill the bigger drops at 30´ies... third, the pace drops at 28-29 are very low, and can usually only be seen on 18 pace

The pace will drop if it is trained or not.... with everything higher then pace on him, he will faster be uneven in skills, with high enough skills in everything for NT, except pace

Pace drops from 28y, the rest from 30y

So if you're unlucky, he might drop 2 times in a couple of weeks, making him even less fast than he is now.
If that's his destiny, why gambling on countering that by 1.5 seasons of training, thrown into the bin.
Wether he drops or not, training him on tech and / or defender will always last much longer, no matter what happens with pace.
As for the NT...what matters... He's on low form for 5 seasons straight! He'll never be able to play for the NT.

I would say def or tech. It depend's on rest training (weeks of gt on each of those skills) - he should be able to make the skillup on the current season.
After reading Adaca's point, I tell: pace, tech or def, depending on gt, in order to make the skillup on the current season.

I would train him to 17lvl at both pace and technique

I agree on what is possible this season, but i would plan 2½ season ahead, thats why i said hurry with the pace, cause otherwise its too late imo :)

I checked again with some more attention.

- pace or tech are possible thin season (but not 100% for sure, becuase I don't have more data about his talent / especially about pace it's a big questionamrk)
- till the end of next season, one more up is possible on pace, tech or def

I'd say his talent is one of the worst I've ever seen :p

I dont like training pace to be the highest level. Pace is the first skill to start dropping, then something like tech will be more advantageous as it is more persistant through time (less drops).

Specially as the player is so good, he should not be a wing. then no need for a inner to be 18 pace

Pace starts dropping first, but it doesn't necessarily have to drop the most since it's quite random as we talked before on examples

Another thing is that PROBABLY the higher the skills - the longer it takes for it to decrease

Also, even agreeing that pace will diminish faster - it's in many cases (wing, striker) even more important to make it as high as possible, because when it drops to for example magical the ATT/winger is still useful, at incredible he's becoming useless at high level, so giving him some extra trainings in pace at 25-28 makes him useful for longer

but in case of this player (CM) I'd go for +1 in defender first
